The Basics

Dental Insurance

• Deductible: $75 • Copay: 80/20 with a maximum of $1,000 per year • Preventive services: Pay 80/20 and are not subject to deductible. • Orthodontic services for adults and children: $1,000 Costs: • Free for single coverage: College provides single coverage at $14.68 per month to the employee. • Family coverage: $48.86 each month; $24.43 deducted bi-monthly.

State University Retirement System

All full time Sandburg employees contribute 8% of their gross bi-monthly wages to SURS (State University Retirement System). This amount is tax sheltered. An employee (with two years SURS credit) who becomes unable to perform the duties of his/her assigned position shall be entitled to disability benefits from SURS. Medical Insurance

Employees have the option to elect one of two plans available on an annual basis. PPO - Plan P18209 the employee pays 1.5% of their annual base pay up to a $1,000.00 maximum, through their bi-monthly payroll deduction. PPO - Plan PG3802 the College provides single coverage at no cost to the employee.

Life Insurance

The College provides $20,000.00 of term insurance for each employee. Optional term insurance for employee and/or spouse is available up to $300,000.00. Child(ren) have a $5,000.00 or $10,000.00 policy option.

PTO Days

Based on years of service: 0-1 years 10 hours/month, 1-4 years 12 hours/month, 4+ years 14 hours/month. +40 hours at the start of each Fiscal year. 400 maximum hours.

Paid Holidays & 16 hours of Floating Holiday

Paid Holidays- The College is closed during the following holidays: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving, Good Friday and Christmas eve through New Year’s Day. Employees do not have to report to work but receive their full pay.

Summer Hours

Summer hours are the week after graduation until the first week of August. They are voted on and approved by the board. Employees work 37.5 hours but employees are paid for 40. College is open 8-4.

Paid Volunteer

16 hours of paid volunteer time per fiscal year.

    All Carl Sandburg College employees are required to have their payroll electronically sent to the bank of their choice.   • Technology Loan 

    The college offers an interest free loan up to $1,500.00 for the purchase of a personal computer and/or peripheral devices after 1 year of employment. Loan payments must be repaid within one year and are payroll deducted. 

     

  • Tuition Reimbursement  

    Carl Sandburg also offers tuition reimbursement based on the $20,000 capped fund, on a first-come, first-serve basis, in a dollar amount not more than the cost of tuition and fees for a 3-credit hour undergraduate course at Western Illinois University each fiscal year
